The Heart Behind The Ohana Foundation

There was a season in my life when everything changed.
When childhood cancer touched our family, our world turned upside down. Life became a whirlwind of doctors, treatments, fear, and survival. I tried to be strong, but the weight of it all was crushing. I was exhausted—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. And in that place of brokenness, I finally came to the end of myself.
It was then that I fully surrendered everything to the Lord.
I have always been a believer, but this moment was different. It wasn’t just belief—it was full surrender. I cried out, “God, I can’t do this on my own anymore.” And He met me there. Not by instantly fixing everything, but by giving me peace in the middle of the storm.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28
God didn’t remove the pain, but He walked with me through it. He gave me strength when I had none and surrounded me with love and support that reminded me I wasn’t alone. And as I leaned into Him, He began to show me a bigger picture—one that extended far beyond my own family.
There were other families facing the same battle. Families with no support system, no relief, no one to turn to when the bills piled up or when the holidays felt impossible. That realization broke my heart—and it also lit a fire in my soul.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
That’s when The Ohana Foundation was born.
Out of the most painful part of our life came a calling: to serve families facing childhood cancer the way Jesus has shown up for me—with love, compassion, and practical support. Whether it’s helping pay a utility bill, providing gas cards, delivering groceries, or making sure a child and their siblings still feel the joy of Christmas, we are here to remind families that they are not alone.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28
This journey hasn’t always been easy. But I’ve learned that when you give God your yes, He can take your deepest pain and turn it into purpose. I never imagined I would start a nonprofit—but God did. And He has continued to guide every step.
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us…” – Ephesians 3:20
My faith in Jesus is the foundation of everything I do. The Ohana Foundation is not just about financial support—it’s about bringing hope. It’s about being the hands and feet of Jesus to families in their hardest moments.
If you’re reading this and you’re walking through a storm, I want you to know: God sees you. He hasn’t forgotten you. And He can bring beauty out of your brokenness, too.
